An event this big is sure to attract the Media, in which some have reported that more than 8000 people attended this event. That was 1000 more people than the projected number of attendees for this year.
The event commenced as our lovely MC, Huyen Tran, introduces all the key members on stage.

Kids enjoying their lanterns
The lions are coming! These kids are not scared.
If you want good luck for the rest of the year, feed a red envelope filled with money in the lion’s mouth.
Lions are not only friendly but are very soft
Don’t forget about these guys! They are just as important as the lion dancers. Theses lions drummers bring the spirit of the lions to life.
The lions are leaving but they will be back later.
Don’t be sad that lions are gone, Huyen Tran, our MC, has presents to give away. All you need to do is to answer one simple question about the Moon Festival. Sorry adults, this round of games is for kids only.
All these gifts still need to be given away.
This event was also made possible by the Vice Major of San Jose, Madison Nguyen. She happened to be standing in the back wearing her light blue ao-dai.
Olivia, Madison’s daughter loves being on stage as you can see.

The Hoa-Hau Ao-Dai poster. For five dollars you can get a cool key chain and help the less fortunate people in Vietnam continue to find work so that can feed themselves and support their families. All those keychains that you see in the picture above are made by hand.
Face paint
Event volunteers took care of all of the face painting.
Can you spot a happy little boy in this picture?
Face paint is not just for faces.
There were three contests in which kids could enter. The coloring contest was for ages 5 and younger (please excuse the error on the poster). The drawing contest was for ages 6 and up. Lastly, the traditional Vietnamese Ao-Dai contest was for all ages.
